13JUN08/FRI... Mike, Randall, Dannie, Stan, Leeda, Sharon & Rusl... "Day #1" of the Redwood Run...
up at 4:30am cafe opens at 6:30am breakfast shortly thereafter birds were late... ...but still got hash browns
13JUN08: I set the radio clock alarm for 4:30am - half hour for the three S's, 5am, one hour to pack, 6am, half hour because I am old and slow, 6:30am, the cafe opens... well... got there by 645am (we walked really slowly). We sat outside this year too, and... the birds did not arrive until we were paying the bill...

... on the road by 745am... still traveling approximately 52 to 55 mph... gas at Willits... Piercy exit... and... no line! Get our arm bands and at chosen campsite, unpacked and tents up by 11am.

a... ... walk... ... all... ... the... ... way...
Sharon and Dannie go to the pit to get run pins and event shirts, Randall and I go to Garberville to get gas, ice, and liquid refreshment and call Stan's cell phone to leave a message about where the campsite is, Mike watches camp...
... around... ... our... ... campsite lookin' down the valey Randall
Stan and Leeda arrive and are still setting up when Randall and I return.

We talk briefly about calling... there is no cell service at the campsite... well for AT&T customers anyway... Dannie checks her cell phone... she's with Virizon... "hey!!! I got people!!!"
Mike's batfone no workie GOOD LOOKIN' 04 HERRITAGE CLASSIC (that rag came out of the ice chest) Raz nice paint job, and skulls
We hang out for a while... Dannie misses Roxie... Mike breaks Leeda's chair... 2pm... we go to catch the air conditioned luxury bus...
that road goes down to the pit we're going up to the vendors road thru the vendors is part... ... of the loop thru the camp ground folks are constantly cruising around
... to the pit and head for vendor row... the knife vendor has no Rigid three pin folding knives, in fact, no Rigid knifes at all... Stan stops at the "general store" to buy a chair, but, they don't have any... "hey, sell him Suzie's chair for ten dollars" - deal...
everybody here? lets check out some sounds... ... from on top of the hill... ... can hear music and can talk Randal and Dannie lookin' around some more
Sharon and I wander through the various vendors, on stopping at one vendor, a girl who was shopping there said "Wow! Cool top, where did you buy that?" referring to Sharon's top with an image of a motorcycle made in rinestones... Sharon tells her she got it in Daytona at Bike Week, actually, during Octoberfest... the girl says "Oh, are those boobs real," as she reached out with both hands and squeezed them, Sharon says "yes, they are real"... "Nice rack!" Sharon moves on... Sharon and I buy tri-tip for lunch/dinner, expensive, but, benefits the local schools... and then...
that's gotta put some zip into the engine! yup... reckon so did this picture come out ok? I cant tell, take another one... how's that?

music drawing more folks in... uh huh... uh huh uh huh uh huh folks in the pit are getting blasted! the GROUND shakes down there! Dannie crashes (next to ant hill)
Dannie crashes too close to an ant hill and wakes up with ants all over her and does a dance... first time I've seen ants on the hill...
how'd this one come out? check it your self I cant see it... ...I dont have my glasses well I dont have mine either
Gary Hoey, then Delbert McClinton played... blues and rock... Sharon and I wandered back to vendors for coffee and sweet rolls for desert... and then...

CCR!!! Stan and Leeda head back to camp after a couple of songs... the rest of us stayed for the duration which included an extra l-o-n-g version of Suzie-Q! CCR was the last band of the night, so...

...when they were done around 2am we headed over to the line for the shuttle stop and ended up beside Mario who was totally wasted and trying to get onto his bike there to go for a ride and everyone was trying to talk him out of it... the line moved on... never heard his bike start up... back at camp there was less LOUD music that previous year, and, less yelling, although still heard some REDWOOD RUUUUUUN yells, but we all thought this year was a milder crowd, leastwise in our immediate vicinity of the campsite... however, Stan was awoken in the middle of the night, what part of the night was left by someone smashing a beer can about twelve inches from his head on the other side of the tent and then could not go back to sleep.
