Ever drive one of these?...
Well, the transmission does not have a clutch, and while not an automatic, it did have bands;
it was years before the automotive industry revisited the concept of an automatic transmission.
There are three pedals on the floor, NOT the usual clutch, brake and gas you are used too;
The one on the left is the Hi-Neutral-Low pedal, in the center is the Reverse pedal, and
on the right is the Brake pedal. The gas is a lever on the steering wheel. The parking brake
lever is connected to the Hi-Neut-Low pedal. When you move the parking brake lever forward
the transmission shifts from Neutral into High. While the H-N-L pedal moves from Neutral to High.
So, you want to drive in Low?... push the left pedal to the floor and hold it there; hit a bump and
get your foot jarred off the pedal... well, now you are zipping right along in high!
Yup, the crazy pedal arrangement for shifting requirs your complete focus and attention. |

See the spark plug wires, one for each spark plug?...
Wonder where the coil is? "The" coil isnt... there is a coil for each spark plug!
Now-a-days a coil for each spark plug is standard configuration on modern (fuel injected) cars. |
