Custom Chrome's exclusive dealer show was open to the public this year for the first time. Saturday was dealers, vendors and media only. Although there was "public" in attendance on Sunday, I was still able to talk to all the manufacturers and builders that I had wanted to visit, and, I was still able to take pictures of some of the bikes with out too much inconvenience from crowding.

If you have been to various biker events over the years, then you have probably become accustomed to the many vendors with leathers, patches, stickers, helmets, boots, T-shirts, dresses, hats, jewelry, etc., a lot of which is a good thing for the new riders in attendance who are looking for an economic solution to gearing up. However, if you already have all the gear you need then you may not be interested in checking out these vendors.

Custom Chrome's dealer show is NOT your ordinary event. The approximately one hundred "vendors" are the actual manufacturers and builders many of which do not deal directly with the public, rather, through distributors, e.g., Custom Chrome. Maybe you are like me, like to work on my own bike, customize and accessorize my bike - then this show is for you

Arlen Ness, Moe (a dude I have ridden with since 1967) and I all bought knuckleheads in 1967; well, in talking with Arlen at the show he thinks he bought his in 1961 or 1962 - he's a little fuzzy on the date - heck - I get a little fuzzy on dates that far back too, seems like it was only yesterday, but golly g-whiz, it was [sigh] almost fifty years ago - boy that went fast. Anyway I told Arlen that when Moe and I were talking about all three of us buying knucks way back when that I said "Arlen was the only one of us that had any brains," but Moe replied "well, Arlen has been tied to his business, and we were out riding all the time." Good point Moe, to which Arlen replied "even so, I've had a good time and I wouldn't change anything from what I've done." True, true... might be interesting to think about changing something in the past to take a "better" path, but, with my luck it would turn out to be a worse path, so, although I have made some lame brain decisions in the past, I reckon I wouldn't change anything I've done either... ride on brother... submitted by RuslH
