This could shape up to be a close race. Can you please tell us where you stand
on the economy, ie happy hour drink prices at the meetings and what is your
stand on foreign policy, ie BMW,Ducati,Triumph etc.
Howdy Gary, et al,
Thank you for your inquiry. My nomination acceptance (below for your reference)
did not address all my concerns and goals. I will try to briefly address your
concerns with just a few of my thoughts.
Regarding the economy, it is my intention to have a balanced budget. On income,
my goal is to solicit income via a (re-newed) advertising campaign. Furthermore
I believe the raffle can be self-supporting (as in another organization I
belong to) and still provide a respectable income. On expenses, my goal is to
subsidize club activities, e.g., food or catering costs for events such as the
progressive dinner ride, the Christmas party, etc. up to and including 1 (one)
(possibly 2 (two)) FREE libation ticket(s) redeemable with the VFW bar keeper
at the Christmas Party. Furthermore, I would support guests receiving a FREE
libation ticket redeemable with the VFW bar keeper at general meetings, and,
possibly expansion of this concept to include sales of "happy hour" libation
tickets at a reduced price redeemable with the VFW bar keeper depending on
club income. More below...
Regarding foreign policy, although (previous) ownership of a Harley-Davidson
is a membership requirement, pictures and ownership of non-Harley-Davidson
motorcycles is additionally acceptable, but, not recommended on the rides and
maybe even subject to a nominal fine. All American motorcycles would be
eligible for display on a "members' rides" page on the website, including,
but not limited to Harley-Davidson, Indian, Victory, Rokon, etc. All European
motorcycles would be eligible for display on a "members' rides" page on the
website, including, but not limited to Triumph, BSA, Vincent, Royal Enfield,
Norton, Ariel, Matchless, AJS, Velocette, BMW, Ducati, Moto Guzi, etc. All
ornamental motorcycles would be eligible for display on a "wall of shame"
page on the website, including, but not limited to that manufacturer whose
name shall not be mentioned, and, some other ornamental motorcycle
manufacturers.
Lastly, although you did not ask about it, let me address the safety topic.
Over the last year or so there has been an effort to get through the meetings
as quickly as possible, and, the guest speakers have been severely lacking. At
the cost of a meeting lasting longer I would support peace officers, insurance
professionals, medical professionals speaking on safety and other motorcycle
topics, and, I would support the partial subsidy for Motorcycle Safety
Foundation riders' courses for members. I would also support guest speakers
who are hysterical historians or comedians.
These ideas that I discussed here are not ideas that only I could incorporate
into the clubs functioning, other director candidates could support these ideas
too if they so desired; I am just saying that these are a few of the ideas I
would strive to perform.
Please feel free to ask for any additional clarification you may need, and,
thanks for your support.
KF!
