Please list any treatments or surgeries you have had for this problem. Aleve,
cortisone shots, hyaluronic acid shot series, Aleve, now... no treatment
Please rate the severity of your pain (0 = no pain, 10 = the worst pain) 9 (10 <-->
4 broken ribs)
Please describe the symptoms you are experiencing. aching, dull, sharp, stabbing,
shooting, stiffness, pain going down the leg, weakness
not symptoms you are experiencing: throbbing, catching, tingling, numbness, burning,
electricity-like
Are your symptoms: worsening
How often are you having these symptoms? constant, disturbs my sleep, pain with
activity, pain at rest
not having these symptoms:
daytime only, gets worse later in the day
Do you have swelling? none
Does it feel like your knee is going to collapse or give way? Yes (it does!)
Are you able to use stairs: normally (don't have any or normally encounter any)
How far can you walk? less than 1 block; sometimes when I'm walking in the house my
knee feels just fine and I ask myself *WHY* am i considering replacement surgery, then I
recall... back stance,...
Do you need to use any of the following devices? none
What makes your symptoms worse?
standing/walking, kneeling, squatting, sitting for long periods of time, twisting on
your leg, during walking/exercise, after walking/exercise, lateral motion sports
does not make symptoms worse:
going up stairs, going down stairs
What makes your symptoms better? exercise
What does not make your symptoms better?
rest, heat, ice, medications, physical therapy, cortisone shots, splinting/bracing
MY QUESTIONS:
Current erscriptions: forgot to mention Ketoconozole shampoo 2% - not a problem
Schedule surgery day such that I am your 1st surgery of the day - so noted
Surgery anesthesia: I do not want to watch or be aware of anything during surgery - will be OUT
What can you do to reduce chance of a blowout between staples/sutures? - don't overdo
What can I do to limit swelling following surgery? - compression sleve, don't overdo
What do you think about taking Align while on antibiotics following surgery? - OK
What do you recommend regarding using the recumbant bicycle at the gym? - after 2 weeks in bed
How soon following surgery can I resume jumping and light to heacy contact kicks? - as soon as you feel like it
